Port St. Lucie East-West Corridor

Walter England from the City of Port St. Lucie discussed why the city is looking for an alternative east-west route to alleviate the traffic on Port St. Lucie Blvd. Some segments of Pt. St. Lucie Blvd. have surpassed their maximum level of service with the rest predicted to reach their capacity by 2009. A traffic study and the drafting of an Environmental Impact Statement to determine the need and the best location for the corridor is underway and will take two years. The previously proposed West Virginia Route would cross the north fork of the St. Lucie River through Environmentally Sensitive Lands.
