Shoreline Restoration St. Lucie/Martin County

MRC’s shoreline Restoration Program in Martin County continues to target Hobe Sound National Wildlife Sanctuary, the Bonair Beach Tract, the Maritime and Yachting Museum in Stuart and headquarters of the Florida Oceanographic Society on Hutchinson Island. Brazilian Pepper trees have been removed from over 150,000 square feet of shoreline. In St Lucie County the future site of the Oxbow Eco Center on Indian River Drive is targeted for pepper busting and a number of mosquito impoundments and ecologically sensitive public lands. Volunteers are always needed so call Carl at (772) 429-1200 in St. Lucie County and Dan at (772) 713-9823 in Martin County.
