Brown Bag Lunches Schedule

MRC Board member Ted Moorhead was awarded the Indian River Lagoon Leadership Award by the Indian River Lagoon Program for his twenty years of leadership in helping to preserve the Indian River Lagoon. Ted spearheaded the efforts to designate US1 and A1A along the Lagoon as a National Scenic Highway. It was Ted's vision to create the Lagoon House in Palm Bay, a welcome center for the Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway. He is a founding member of the Marine Resources Council and a board member since its inception. He was appointed a Commissioner of the Florida Inland Navigation District, and has served as Chairman.

MRC was honored by Friends of St. Sebastian River with the "Environmental Enhancement Award" for our efforts in shoreline restoration. MRC staff and volunteers removed over five million square feet of invasive vegetation last year.

A Certificate of Appreciation was presented by the Bayfront Redevelopment Agency of Palm Bay to MRC for beautification efforts along US1. Invasive plants were eradicated along Palm Bay's waterfront at Palm Bay, Ais Point and locations in between.

A warm welcome to MRC's newest team members. Dawn Vickers, a member of the MRC support staff, and Ryan Gish, who joined the Shoreline Restoration team for Indian River County.
