From Florida PIRG

The millions of pounds of toxic pollution released into the air and water annually has caused Florida to be ranked fifth in the release of respiratory toxicants, tenth in the release of cancer-causing chemicals, thirteenth in the release of both neurological toxicants and dioxin and fourteenth in the release of reproductive toxicants. In 2000 Orange County released 590,000 pound of cancer-causing chemicals into the air and water by a plastic foam manufacture. Palm Beach County's sugar production caused the release of 792,000 lbs. of cancer-causing chemicals and 314,000 lbs. of reproductive toxicants.
