Saving the St. Lucie and Indian River Lagoon A Conference for people who care Feb. 21 - The MRC, FOS, the Indian Riverkeeper and other local groups are hosting a Conference on the St. Lucie and Indian River Lagoon on Feb 21 from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Blake Library in Stuart. Experts such as David Guest of Earth Justice, Dr. Paul Gray of Florida Audubon and Former Secretary of the Interior Nathaniel Reed will discuss the damaging releases from Lake Okeechobee to the St. Lucie, the impact of a new invasive algae on the Lagoon and its connection to deep well injection of sewage, the proposal to fuel central and south Florida development with north Florida water and the dismantling of the Clean Water Act.
