NEW RIGHT WHALE MOMS FOR 2003

Listed below are the cows that gave birth this season. The information that is included about these whales is from the Catalog of Identified Right Whales from the Western North Atlantic by Philip Hamilton and Stephanie Martin. All photos are courtesy of the New England Aquarium. Enjoy learning a little about the new moms for the season!

# 1151 - Mavynne

Mavynne gave birth to her fourth calf this year. Her first two calves were #1707, a female, and #2151, whose gender is unknown. During the 2001 season Mavynne gave birth to a calf whom researchers believe was struck by a ship in January. She was also made a grandmother in 1997 when #1707 gave birth to #2707, also a female.
