IN MEMORIAM - Jackie Ciano 1955-2003

Jackie, who was born in Arlington, Massachusetts, lived a life of varied and extraordinary experiences. She began studying marine mammals in the mid-1980s after working in the family bakery for many years. She was a musician, an artist, a philosopher, and an adventurer. Her study of whales took her from New England to Norway to Florida, with many stops in between. With her vibrant, straightforward personality and boundless personal commitment, Jackie will always be remembered as a teacher and positive problem-solver. She recently received her Captain's license from the U.S. Coast Guard, and her passionate love of the sea will be remembered and carried on by those who love and miss her.
