IN MEMORIAM - Michael Newcomer 1953-2003

Michael, originally from Los Altos, California, was wellknown as a seasoned and talented marine mammal observer. He logged several thousand hours conducting aerial and shipboard marine mammal and sea turtle surveys for a variety of private and government agencies in the U.S. and internationally. However, Michael was much more than just a great observer - he was a passionate bibliophile, an avid ornithologist, and a wonderful friend. Michael was the kind of person who made the people around him feel special and valued, and he made life-long friends wherever the job took him. Michael's "great observer eyes," beaming smile, and enthusiastic personality will be sadly missed by anyone who has even momentarily crossed his path.
