Harry Richter Great Asset to Whale Program

The MRC would like to extend a huge "thank you" to Harry Richter for helping the volunteer network so much this year. Harry conducted four classes this season (St. Augustine Lighthouse, Marineland, Disney-Vero Beach, and Indian River County Lifeguards) for over 180 people during his spare time. He helped confirm sightings and covered the hotline for Julie Albert during the holidays. Harry also had a few chances to go whale watching from the Fujifilm blimp!
Harry is a retired IBM Executive with 37 years of service. He was the Program Coordinator for MRC's whale program when it was in its infancy. He was Volunteer of The Year for two years at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution in Ft. Pierce. Harry has been a volunteer at the Sebastian Inlet State Park on their Sea Turtle Program for about 8 years, and he has recently retired as the President of the Sebastian Inlet Museums Foundation which supports the two historical museums located at the Park.
For years Harry has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the Northern Right Whale Monitoring Program. He has been a great asset to MRC and his efforts are greatly appreciated!

The use of the Fujifilm blimp helped volunteers contribute to the photo- identification of at least two mother-calf pairs this season.
